Toilets

Q. Is my toilet leaking without me knowing?
A. Toilets are notorious for leaking and often go un-noticed. A leaking toilet is the most common causes for a high water bill. There are a number of signs that a toilet needs some repairs, but many toilets leak without obvious signs of trouble. Some indications of a leaking toilet are: If you have to jiggle the handle to make a toilet stop running. Any sounds coming from a toilet that is not being used are sure signs of leaks. If you have to hold down the handle to allow the tank to empty. If you see water running over the top of the overflow. If you are unsure whether or not water is running over the top of the overflow pipe or passing thru the flapper assembly try adding a little food coloring to the water in the tank, check the bowl in 15 minutes, if the color ends up in the bowl with out flushing the toilet then you have a problem. If a toilet turns the water on for a few seconds or so without you touching the handle, this is otherwise known as the phantom flusher. Leaking toilets can result in outrageous water bills some up to 300% higher than your average monthly bill!

Q. Is it really "flushable"?
A. In my opinion the only things flushable is toilet paper and excrement!!! After years in the field we have found items you would think to be flushable not, such as kleenex, paper towels, feminine products, dental floss, hair, Q-tips, diapers and would you believe Persimmons.

Q. How do I fix a plugged or overflowing toilet?
A. The main tools to help fix a plugged toilet area plunger and a clothes hanger. Use the hanger to catch and remove visible objects. Use the plunger to force hard to see items through. If the toilet is about to over flow, the water can be stopped by lifting the lid and manually closing the flush valve (flapper)! If this does not work contact us for an appointment.
